Global Innovation Pioneers Join Avanci’s Multiple Licensing Projects to Bring More Value to Licensees
On April 18, 2023, Dallas, Texas, USA – Avanci, a leader in simplified advanced technology sharing, announced today that Samsung Electronics has become a licensor for multiple license projects such as Avanci’s vehicle platform 4G project, after-sales market project, and Avanci radio and television platform.
Avanci has changed the way companies share technology, allowing product manufacturers to be granted access to patented technologies from multiple companies and research institutions through just one agreement, with only a one-time fixed fee paid throughout the product lifecycle. Covering the inventions and creations of hundreds or thousands of inventors from around the world, the Avanci platform’s licensing model will effectively help businesses unleash the potential of these technologies and create innovative products for consumers.
At present, over 80 automotive brands worldwide have become licensees for Avanci vehicle platform 4G projects. They will all be allowed to use Samsung Electronics’ necessary patents for 2G, 3G, and 4G standards in their connected cars, greatly expanding the coverage of their existing license agreements. Similarly, the after-sales vehicle products manufactured by the licensee of the Avanci after-sales market platform are also within the approved scope.
Avanci recently launched the Avanci radio and television platform, which is a one-stop licensing platform for the ATSC 3.0 standard. Samsung Electronics is a significant contributor to the development of the ATSC 3.0 standard and one of the first licensors of the platform. The existing patent portfolio of the platform’s licensors accounts for over 70% of the total declared necessary patent families for the ATSC 3.0 standard. Samsung Electronics is the world’s largest television manufacturer, and the Avanci broadcasting and television platform, including Samsung Electronics, sold the vast majority of ATSC 3.0 televisions by its first licensees.
