OPPO invests in innovative technology and establishes a joint laboratory

According to media reports, on January 10th, OPPO and Huazhong University of Science and Technology held the unveiling ceremony of the “New Storage Innovation Technology Joint Laboratory”. In the future, the two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation around the research of computer architecture, mobile storage technology, vertical integration of software and hardware and other fields.

In 2021, OPPO took frequent actions in the field of industry, academia, and research, establishing multiple research and development centers or university joint laboratories:
In January, OPPO established the Xi’an R&D Center with the aim of further strengthening the layout of the R&D system. The OPPO Xi’an R&D Center will carry the research and delivery of A-series mobile phones, gradually developing into a stable and versatile product R&D center. At present, OPPO has established five research and development centers in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Hyderabad, Chengdu, and Xi’an, as well as six research institutes in Silicon Valley, Yokohama, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, and Dongguan.
In March, the OPPO “Intelligent Health Collaborative Innovation Laboratory” from the Medical Department of Peking University was officially signed in Beijing. Since the establishment of the Joint Innovation Center between OPPO, Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University, OPPO has once again established close industry university research cooperation with the super first-class scientific research institution – Peking University Medical Department, striving to explore the most cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements and create a better life under the guidance of the academic and research community.
In September, OPPO and Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology officially established the “Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology OPPO Antenna Technology Joint Laboratory”. The two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in the fields of antennas, radio frequency, short distance communication, etc., with a focus on conducting basic theoretical research and exploring cutting-edge engineering issues around terminal antenna technology.
October: OPPO Wuhan R&D Center officially settled in Wuhan Optics Valley National Mining Center and put it into operation, aiming to further strengthen the layout of OPPO R&D system and build a comprehensive regional delivery and R&D capability for software engineering systems. OPPO and Beijing Sport University have established the “Sports and Health Laboratory” to strengthen the integration of industry, academia, and research in the field of sports and health. They will closely cooperate in the research and development of intelligent sports equipment, the construction of AI sports health detection and guidance system, the cultivation of high-tech sports talents, and academic exchanges on sports and health at home and abroad.
It is worth noting that there are reports that OPPO is currently experimenting with 200W fast charging and has plans to promote commercial use.
200W wired charging can charge 100% (4000mAh) in 8 minutes, 10% in 44 seconds, and 50% in 3 minutes. This technology is currently being applied on Xiaomi’s 11PRO magic modification.
We do not yet know whether OPPO’s technology is suitable for implementation on smart devices.
OPPO will mass produce 125W wired fast charging this year, and has also released multiple technologies in addition to “fast”, such as internal string dual battery cells, battery safety detection chips, smart charging technology, etc.
